| SCHUPPEN 52 – living history. |
It was build over one century ago, two decades ago it was used as a reloading point for goods from
all over the world, now it is a historical monument and an event location. |
| In the booming years of Hamburg, one century ago, the Schuppen 52 and her sisters were build as reloading points and warehouses for goods from all over the world. It’s architecture, it’s breath taking wooden and iron construction and its proportions made the Schuppen 52 to a cathedral of work in which thousands of people were in employment. |

The advent of the container changed the world’s harbours, also Hamburg’s. Only a few classical warehouses
could be saved from demolition. The extensive restoration of our venue took place in the year 2003 and nowadays
the Schuppen 52 is a centre of a planned ensemble of further monuments, which shall keep the history of
Hamburg’s harbour alive. |
